JAPANESE NOTAN
Notan (pronounced no-tan) is a Japanese term that means 'light and dark harmony/balance. ' It's a design concept that looks at how light and dark elements of a composition interact only using black and white.
For the assignment, students were instructed to list 20 ideas that would make good Notan's. Each idea was suppose to be meaningful to the artist. I chose ideas that were a part of my daily life, interests and hobbies. After curating a list of ideas, four would be chosen to be composed into full ideas.
